Respite

On Thursday, Andrew and I placed our children and this document in the hands of trusted caregivers

and we hit the road for some time off.  We were, perhaps, a little gleeful.

(And, Abbi, I’m really sorry about Andrew picking you up and swinging you around the room when you walked in the door to babysit.  I can’t imagine what came over him…)

When we arrived at our destination and I walked out on our back porch and saw this, I sat down and had myself a good cry.  Four years was a long time to wait for this vacation, but it was totally worth it.

And now you’ve never seen two more relaxed people…   Nothing quite like a beach trip to remind you of your own insignificance and how Powerful and Mighty is The One who creates all things.

Psalm 93:2-4

2 Your throne was established long ago;
you are from all eternity.

3 The seas have lifted up, O LORD,
the seas have lifted up their voice;
the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.

4 Mightier than the thunder of the great waters,
mightier than the breakers of the sea—
the LORD on high is mighty.

    I’m dealing with a house full of sick ones…even the baby…but you know what? Just having FIVE sick kids to take care of makes my heart smile. Our newest addition has been home with us for a MONTH. I cannot believe it!
