Since I don’t have any pictures to tell stories with, my blog posts seems to be getting longer and longer. In the interest of everyone’s eye health, I thought I’d break it up a bit today with something new and different: a meme! For the grandparents, a meme is a list of questions that people pass around the blogosphere and tag each other to answer. I’ve never been tagged before, but Jana over at sidetrack’d tagged me and I thought it deserved careful thought and attention. I promptly lost the link, ignored her for weeks, and fell off the face of the blogging earth for awhile. Allow me to remedy that now.
This is the Five Things Meme. But since this blog really isn’t about just me (despite my attempts to make it so), I thought I’d make it five things about The Fam. (Can’t change the title. Life of the Family kind of has to include more than one person, ya know?) And Ellen isn’t exactly on here much because, well, she’s just starting out.
Five Things You Were Doing Ten Years Ago: (okay, we all know what the kids were doing, so I’m splitting this between Andrew and myself)
1. I was leaving home and moving to college. Big emotional drama.
2. Andrew was starting his first real computer job.
3. I was enjoying having my very own car, a little white Honda Civic, given to me by my dad. I named him Morty.
4. Andrew moved out of the dorms and began living all by his very lonesome.
5. We met each other.
Five Of Your Favorite Snacks:
1. Andrew - Juice. I know that’s not technically a snack, but the boy loves him some good sugary syrup.
2. LL - Ice Cream. Can’t beat milk fat. And it has to have chocolate.
3. Sam - Fruit. Any kind. He’ll eat it. His colon loves it.
4. Ian - Gum. He calls it gum-gum. He’ll chew it for quite awhile. Only today, he told me he left it in the car. I’m afraid to look.
5. Adam - “Nack.” He’s a sucker for anything called snack. As long as it isn’t meat. Oh, and he loves milk.
6. Ellen - Milk.
Five Songs I Know All the Lyrics To:
1. Andrew - Sweet Home Alabama. And he’s from Tennessee.
2. LL - All the songs in the Broadway Gershwin musical “Crazy For You.”
3. Sam - The Baby Ellen Song. It’s his favorite.
4. Ian - “This Mystery” by Nichole Nordeman. I’m pretty sure he picked it up en utero.
5. Adam - Itsy Bitsy Spider. Only he pronounces it “Itsy Bitsy PIDER mumble mumble mumble SPOUT.”
Five Things I Would Do If I Were a Millionaire:
1. Andrew - Become a woodworker. Full-time.
2. LL - Travel more with Andrew. And maybe we’d take the kids, too. But not by myself. Noooo.
3. Sam - Get cable and watch Animal Planet.
4. Ian - Buy gadgets and break them.
5. Adam - Buy a crash helmet. (Okay, maybe this is what I should do for him, but it seemed funnier coming out of his pocket.)
Five Bad Habits:
1. Andrew - Leaving the juice/milk out. (He’s much better about this. It just cracks me up when he does it, since he’s really very tidy.)
2. LL - Chocolate. But I don’t really call it bad… Just a serious addiction. But I’m comfortable with that.
3. Sam - Saying “I sorry” insincerely. But it’s still cute.
4. Ian - Today it’s whining. But, in general, I would say it’s putting his clothes and shoes on backwards.
5. Adam - Falling. Lots.
Five Things I Like To Do:
1. Andrew - Putz around the yard.
2. LL - Blog.
3. Sam - Ride horses. Even though they throw him off.
4. Ian - Read books.
5. Adam - Play with the train track.
6. Ellen - Eat. Drool. Sleep.
Five Favorite Toys:
1. Andrew - Anything in his work shop.
2. LL - My laptop.
3. Sam - His stick horse.
4. Ian - Anything with buttons.
5. Adam - Trucks and cars.
Five Things I Would Never Wear Again:
1. Andrew - his shorts from junior high. Although he could, you know. But I put a stop to it… last year.
2. LL - My jeans with the tight roll at the bottom.
3. The boys: all their baby clothes. So passe, Mom.
4. Andrew - Suits every day, like when he worked for the Big Government Consulting Firm.
5. LL - Jellies. My feet hate sweaty plastic.
Done.
Well, looky there. Still lots of words. Hope your eyeballs don’t fall out, people.
