Mini-Meme

Sam and Ian have been tagged for a meme.* I don’t usually participate in memes, because I’m a party pooper. But since this blog isn’t really about moi at all (despite the recent posts,) I figured I’d let the kids have their little meme. Here are six random items about my oldest boys:

1. Ian calls Samuel “Sammy.” He’s the only one who does. I didn’t think much about it but Andrew asked Sam if he liked it and he said no. Andrew noticed that Ian only uses “Sammy” when he’s trying to get something from Sam. I don’t suppose I’d like that much either.

2. Today Sam decided to wear socks with his Crocs. I let it go, but seeing how the socks were too small and mis-matched, he looked very… old-man-ish. And now, ew, he is sleeping in the same socks.

3. Ian is an auditory learner and has an incredible memory. He is the designated reader for the group. They hand him books and he “reads” them from his memory. He is usually fairly accurate. And if he doesn’t remember something, he’ll bring it to me and say, “I can’t talk about it, Mommy.”

4. Ian has a pretty sharp sense of style. Sam’s is more eclectic (see #2). But on many days, they will choose to wear the exact same thing. I have nothing to do with it. They reach for the clothes that look alike. (Alright, yes, I guess I do buy the matching items, but some of them are gifts. I don’t intend for them to match, but I like to have a few things so I can dress them alike when we’re in crowds. A quick head count is much easier with matching shirts.)

5. Sam has always been an inch or more taller than Ian. And his head is bigger. He usually runs about a half size up in shoes.

6. Both boys suck two fingers on their left hand. But Sam needs his “kitty” (a green frog) to suck his fingers. He asks for it often, but “kitty” stays in his bed. Ian, on the other hand, has no trouble leaving his blanket in his bed, but sucks his fingers all the time, sans blanket. Go figure.

And because I cannot leave my other kids out of the fun, here is a mini-meme (hee) all about Adam:

1. Adam’s favorite color is green. He calls it “my pickle.”

2. Adam is finally learning to like food. He’s been anti-meat for over two years. Last week, he ate two ham sandwiches and even ate an omelette. Then he asked for a carrot and Andrew had to pick me up off the floor.

3. Adam has a tender heart. He cried the other night because Ellen was crying.

Finally, here is our Ellen:

Cute As Pie

Nobody appreciates a good foot like she does.

By the way, that whole outfit she’s wearing, including bloomers? Made by me.

And there we are, full circle. It all came back to me after all, didn’t it?

Well, how about a hand for this guy:

Nearly Asleep

… who puts up with our own special brand of crazy every day. He’s the real hero of Vitafam, no question about it.

And that’s what I’ve got, folks. I’m all memed out.

Tag, ya’ll.

*A meme is a list of things, usually about yourself, that you type out a certain number of items and then tag your friends to do the same. Or something like that. I’m only explaining it because Andrew looked at me and said, “Huh?”
