When Adam got his cast off yesterday, the doctor let us know that he would still need to be very careful with his arm for a few weeks. “In other words,” he said, “don’t let him get into a situation where he might fall.”
Which, in Adam’s case, means strap him to the bed and hope he doesn’t have to get up to pee.
Adam is affectionately known around our house as The Fall Guy. He falls any time, anywhere, without the slightest provocation. I managed to catch him in action on our recent hike.
Here he is falling off the log for the first time.
Then he got back on the log and we waited for the next fall. First, he wobbled.
Then, he tried to save himself by raising one foot higher.
His plan failed.
And, no, I don’t always laugh at my son’s misfortune. Especially when he gets hurt. But I do take some comfort that I am not the only one with a gift for nose-diving.
My genes are STRONG, people.
