I’ve sat Willa in the high chair a few times in the past, but she’s finally ready to sit with the rest of the family at dinner and enjoy the view. I put our dinner of chili (very mild) into the blender and made her some super special baby food to enjoy with us. She certainly ate slower with all the kids talking to her and offering distractions, but she sat up well and seemed pretty happy to hang out with us. When she lost interest in her chili, I broke my corn cob in half and gave her half to gnaw.
She wrestled with it a bit and enjoyed licking the butter off. I think she got maybe one kernel into her mouth, which she worked on for a long time. And she was very happy.
Eventually she lost control of the cob and sent it flying over the side of her high chair.
She pondered this awhile and then looked at me expectantly. “What else ya got, Ma?”
So I grabbed a jar of pureed apples and gave her a bite. There’s something about apples that makes her wince. The child can eat chili like a pro, but she treated every bite of apples like it was a shot of whiskey, complete with a wince and a fist pound on the table.

This last shot is just gratuitous baby cuteness. I really just wanted to show Aunt Anita that Ellen’s favorite pj’s now fit Willa.
Well, and because who doesn’t love a little gratuitous baby cuteness?

That video clip of her is hilarious! Even with the wince and fist pump - she kept coming back for more!

Willa is going to become a little charmer. I love her expressions while eating her apples. Give her and the others a big smack for me.

The picture of her looking over the highchair tray is a scream! And the way she pops the tray after eating those apples? Made me laugh out loud. What a cute and funny girl!

Cute, cute!

did you but a little “something extra” in those apples? Or maybe they just fermented on their own? She just looks like she’s slapping the bar after a shot of whisky, is-alls I’m sayin’.

Mercy on us, LL. Your kids are tooooo funny. My son just came downstairs and asked who I was talking to–I wasn’t, I was laughing out loud at the whiskey soaked apples. Hi-larious.

Thanks for stopping by! Yes, all mine made faces, but I don’t remember the slamming of the hand being the norm. She still makes faces at apples. Go figure!
