The Bump Update - 31 Weeks

So last Friday, Andrew came home. It was a long day waiting for him to get here and I was definitely exhausted, but we took 31 week pictures anyway. Apparently I thought that a large, bold pattern would hide the belly. You know, Gwen Stefani style.

Not as effective from the side…

31 weeks with Willa

I am certainly enjoying my pregnancy, despite not getting to live it like I want to. I like watching the organ rearranging that Willa does every evening. I DON’T like it as much when she does it between midnight and 2 AM, but whatever. She alternates between being transverse (sideways) and head down. When she’s transverse and awake, she’s very unhappy with me, regardless of which side I lay on. Probably because either side means she gets squished. At any rate, she does a good deal of punching and kicking and wiggling. And then I’ll feel her head down with the hiccups. Until she forgets she doesn’t like transverse and turns that way again…

We have our big ultrasound a week from tomorrow. The doctor is still optimistic about that placenta moving, so we’ll just keep praying and hoping. My medication and drinking two gallons of water a day, plus the bed rest, seem to be working fairly well at keeping her in her place. The doctor still seems to think we’ll have an early delivery, but I have hopes of proving him at least somewhat wrong. (I’m not going to complain if she comes a week or two early. I’m not crazy.)

I spend my days mostly in the comfort of my little nest. I have my pills, my remote, my laptop, my books, and my ever-present water bottles. That is my world. And it’s a good little gestational bubble. Especially when I have these visitors…

Our lives are certainly full and blessed.

    Looking good, Friend!

I’m so happy that your family is all together for a bit. I know things aren’t ideal at the moment, but a little normalcy can go a long way.

What a sweet family you have, and what a cute baby belly! I can’t imagine having to drink 2 gallons of water a day, but I suppose if it was for my baby, I’d do it. Hang in there!

  4. Very cute pics! All of them! You’re doing a great job Momma!

I started reading your blog a few weeks ago when I found you from a mention on twitter (boomama I think; us AL girls, you know we have to stick together!). I have 3 boys and had our (surprise) baby girl last September; her pregnancy was complicated by a low lying placenta (as close as it could be to previa without actually being previa) that never moved, and in the last 6 weeks, by low amniotic fluid. I was only drinking about a gallon of water, and that was plenty! I will be praying for you over the next few weeks, that baby Willa stays safe & that you are able to enjoy this pregnancy to the fullest, even if that means in bed! You have such a great sense of humor about it all.

So happy to hear that you’re feeling better…and what a fun picture! Those 2 gallons of water must be killer - how are you supposed to rest when you have to pee every 20 minutes?!? Hang in there! :)
